  On 31 May, Kyron Media hosted the Northern Ireland Pharmacy Conference in ICC Belfast. PDA Chairman, Mark Koziol joined a panel of renowned speakers at the conference. PDA National Officer for Northern Ireland, Una O’Farrell also attended the conference and has shared her experience.

• PDA to propose ‘Independent Voice for Pharmacists’ motion at ICTU 2021 conference

  After affiliating to the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) earlier this year, the PDA will be proposing a motion for the first time at the ICTU Biennial Delegate Conference 2021 which begins today.

  Last Thursday (23 September), the Northern Ireland Healthcare Awards returned for its 22nd year. After last year’s online event in response to COVID-19 restrictions, the region’s healthcare professionals were finally able to come together in person in Belfast.

  Pharmacy Forum NI, the professional leadership body for pharmacists in Northern Ireland recently held an event title ‘Gender in NI pharmacy & the Power of Parity’. The event was hosted by PDA Regional Committee Member and Pharmacy Forum NI Board Member Andrew Cheung.  

• Northern Irish trade union movement supports pharmacist campaigns

  The Irish Congress of Trade Unions is now formally supporting PDA campaigns for pharmacists following the PDA's participation in the ICTU 2021 Biennial Delegate Conference  

• Locum and employed pharmacists should check arrangements for them to receive up to £500 government payment in Scotland and Northern Ireland

  Employers, in Northern Ireland and in Scotland, have been asked by their respective governments to provide information about how many eligible pharmacists, including locums, will receive up to £500 as a payment from government for their contribution in 2020 towards tackling the Covid pandemic. 

• New PDA Regional Official for members in Northern Ireland

  The PDA welcomes Una O’Farrell, new Regional Official for Northern Ireland, who joins the Organising and Engagement department. Una, a community pharmacist locum who is passionate about pharmacy and pharmacist’s potential, will support PDA members in Northern Ireland, including co-ordinating the Regional Committee members who represent all sectors of pharmacy. 

• PDA welcomes £500 payment for Northern Ireland health workers

  The PDA Union, which represents pharmacists across the UK, has welcomed the announcement from Northern Ireland Health Minister Robin Swann that he intends to provide a one-off £500 special recognition payment to health and social care workers due to their work during the coronavirus pandemic.
