Northern Ireland Healthcare Award winners 2021 revealed

Last Thursday (23 September), the Northern Ireland Healthcare Awards returned for its 22nd year. After last year’s online event in response to COVID-19 restrictions, the region’s healthcare professionals were finally able to come together in person in Belfast.

The awards pay tribute to the positive impact those within the sector have on their patients and peers. The PDA was delighted to once again sponsor the Student Leadership category of the awards, which was won by Fatimah Khan a student at Ulster University.

Each year, the PDA sponsors the Student Leadership category in each of the Northern Ireland, Welsh and Scottish Pharmacy Awards. PDA representatives attend the awards ceremonies and present the award to the winner.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic, healthcare workers have been working tirelessly to overcome the virus and to get people vaccinated. The awards night was the perfect opportunity to celebrate all of the hard work of these healthcare professionals from all sectors.

On the night there was an announcement of the 2021 Special Recognition Award honouree – which, for the first time, was dedicated to Northern Ireland’s entire healthcare community in tribute to their collaborative efforts, commitment and resilience in the face of unprecedented COVID-19 pressures.

The Health Minister, Robin Swann MLA, accepted the award on behalf of the sector and paid tribute to their contributions to patient care during this difficult time.
