Under trade union law all ten seats on the PDA Union’s governing body are up for election in 2023, with successful candidates serving terms of five years. Elections will therefore be held for the following posts:
- General Secretary
- Treasurer
- Assistant General Secretary (Strategic)
- Assistant General Secretary (Tactical)
- Assistant General Secretary (Administration & Membership)
- Assistant General Secretary (Equality, Diversity & Inclusion)
- NEC member – Scotland & Northern Ireland Region
- NEC member – Wales and West England Region
- NEC member – North Region
- NEC member – South-East Region
Full members at the relevant date (i.e. not those in the Student, Associate or Retired member categories), other than a member disqualified from voting by virtue of rule 8(d), should be entitled to stand for election, nominate or second others and vote in election ballots.
NEC members representing each of the four PDA Union regions will be elected from, and by, the membership in each region. The six officer roles will be elected from, and by, the national membership.
In accordance with the statutory provisions relating to Trade Union elections, an independent scrutineer has been appointed from the list approved by the Secretary of State for Employment, who will be responsible for supervising the production and the distribution of nomination papers. Under legislation, voting for any contested seats must be undertaken by anonymous postal ballot.
Completed nominations must be returned by 5pm on Thursday 12th Jan 2023.
