LGBT+ Network

This is the PDA LGBT+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) Pharmacists' Network.

The network was launched by the PDA in April 2020 as part of their work to meet the demands of their growing membership and advance their work on equality.

 

  • PDA LGBT+ Network calls for equality in the workplace

    In June, the Trades Union Congress (TUC) published a report titled ‘Being LGBT+ at Work: LGBT+ Workplace Experiences 2023’. The findings were based on qualitative research which aimed to uncover how much incorporating legal protections for LGBT+ workers has led to positive and inclusive workplace experiences.  

  • PDA LGBT+ Network members attend the STUC’s LGBT+ Workers Conference

    The STUC’s LGBT+ Workers Conference took place on 27 to 28 May following new data that showed that the UK has fallen in LGBT+ rankings. Members of the PDA’s LGBT+ Network were in attendance and the PDA supported a motion calling for more inclusive care for LGBT+ patients.

    This month's June update coincides with Pride Month which is celebrated as a way of raising awareness of issues affecting the LGBT+ community along with promoting acceptance and equality. We are also using this month to celebrate our network members and the work they have done to improve the lives of LGBT+ pharmacists in the UK.

  • United Nations expert advises the UK to keep calm and respect diversity

    The United Nations Independent Expert on protection against violence and discrimination based on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (IE SOGI), Victor Madrigal-Borloz, paid a 10-day visit to the UK in April and May 2023.

    Pride takes place every year in June. The month is celebrated as a way of raising awareness of issues affecting the LGBT+ community along with promoting acceptance and equality. This Pride Month, the PDA is celebrating LGBT+ Network members and the work they have done to improve the lives of LGBT+ pharmacists in the UK.

  • Liam Volk elected as the second President of the PDA LGBT+ Network

    Liam Volk (he/him) has been elected unopposed as the President of the PDA’s LGBT+ Pharmacists’ Network. Liam is the second President of the PDA LGBT+ Network since it launched in April 2020 as part of the PDA’s dedicated work to meet the demands of the growing and diverse membership and advance their work on equality.
