The PDA’s negotiating team consists of Boots pharmacists and full-time trade union officials. The details of the pay settlement for 2024/25, negotiated by the PDA team and to be implemented from 1 November, were shared in a joint statement published on 3 October.
Those covered by the settlement will receive a minimum 4% salary increase and the effect of negotiated increases to other payments, and new minimum salaries for those with longer service, means the total average impact will be 5% overall.
Mark Pitt, PDA Union General Secretary said, “I would like to place on record my gratitude for the hard work undertaken by the Boots PDA Network in drafting this pay claim, which itself was built upon extensive member feedback.
It is pleasing to note the continued year on year improvements secured for pharmacists through union recognition. The overall above inflation pay settlement for 2024/25 includes recognition of the value that long service pharmacists bring to the success of the business and the introduction of more financially attractive minimum salaries will help those pharmacists interested in management careers.”
Nicola Rees, a pharmacist and member of the PDA negotiating team at Boots said, “We appreciate the contributions from all those PDA members who engaged with their local union and union reps and inputted into the claim over the preceding months as well as those members who have also fed back to us about this negotiated deal and asked us to accept this on your behalf.
The greater the number of PDA members we have at Boots, the stronger our influence as a union and each PDA member gets their own say in what is negotiated. If you are not yet a member, please join us, and if you know a pharmacist who is not yet a member encourage them to join us too.”
Mark Pitt concluded, “I would also like to thank the company negotiating team led by Andy Francis for listening carefully to the position of the union negotiators and following discussions presenting a package which we could recommend to members for acceptance. We believe the success of this year’s negotiations will help build a good foundation for the future.”
