Legislation on fit notes enacted

From 1 July 2022, legislation came into force that adds pharmacists and others, such as nurses, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists, to those healthcare professionals that may legally certify fit notes.

PDA is represented at the STUC Youth Conference

The Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC) held its Youth Conference in Clydebank on the 25 and 26 of June 2022. The PDA was able to send its first-ever delegates, Hammad Mukhtar and Megan Boyle, two pharmacy students from Strathclyde University, to the conference representing the PDA.

PDA responds to the GPhC’s consultation ‘Draft equality guidance for pharmacies’

The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) recently consulted on its ‘Draft equalities guidance for pharmacies.’ Whilst the PDA welcomed this consultation, it has a number of concerns around certain aspects of the consultation.

PDA calls for urgent action from GPhC and PSNI to retain credibility of the online assessment examinations

At the beginning of 2022, the BTL Group Ltd, which made approximately £10 million in profit last year, was appointed the new provider of the common registration assessment sittings on behalf of the General Pharmaceutical Society (GPhC) and the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland (PSNI).
