PDA hosts ‘Get Mentally Prepared’ for the exams workshop with Pharmacist Support

Last month, student and pre-reg members joined the PDA for a wellbeing workshop hosted by Pharmacist Support.

Tue 1st June 2021 The PDA

The workshop was organised to helped members develop the tools and techniques they need to improve their wellbeing and manage stress levels during the exam period.

Pharmacist Support’s Senior Wellbeing Development Officer, Melissa Cochrane, explored the science behind stress, fear, sleep hygiene and the importance of self-care, particularly focusing on the impacts it has on memory and concentration. The workshop gave practical tips and methods as well as looking at the theory behind wellbeing and why it works.

Wellbeing is an important issue for many MPharm students and pharmacists and can have an impact on many areas both in their professional and personal lives.

The PDA is committed to giving pharmacists access to wellbeing support, which is why since 2018 the PDA has given and continues to give £1 to the charity per member, which has now surpassed £120k. The PDA will continue to work in partnership with Pharmacist Support to deliver more workshops and provide support to members.

Nottingham PDA Student Rep, Saz Tariq, commented:

“The workshop was great, particularly because of the amount of detail given. It was good to hear advice we often receive given some context on their importance and application.”

PDA Student Organising Assistant, Hannah Baker, explained:

“Events like these offer free opportunities to student members to develop new skills and network with students and sector professionals. Many of the skills learned are essential for pharmacists when supporting patient care and working with colleagues. The PDA is dedicated to offering all student members access to professional development and networking events which provide them with the best possible preparation for their future career.”
