NEC elections conclude with Wales and West England ballot result

The election for an National Executive Committee (NEC) member representing Wales and West England has concluded, with Anne Davies being elected.

Sat 25th February 2023 The PDA

Anne Davies, a pharmacist within Boots for over 30 years in a variety of roles, currently as a relief pharmacist in South Wales, has been elected as the final member of the PDA Union’s governing body for 2023-2028. Anne is already an experienced member of the PDA Wales and West Regional Committee and one of the founding members of the PDA network within Boots.

Anne was elected via a postal ballot of the nearly 9,000 members in the PDA’s Wales and West England region, with a 6.81% turnout*.

*As part of the government’s anti-trade union laws, designed to frustrate union effectiveness, trade unions such as the PDA are prevented from using electronic voting in NEC elections, which if allowed would almost certainly increase participation in such ballots. The environmental impact of having to print and post almost 9,000 ballot packs, in just one of the PDA’s four regions, is another reason why the PDA continue to call upon the trade union regulator to allow electronic voting in future.

The other NEC members elected to serve from April 2023 were announced in January and the full committee will be:

  • General Secretary – Mark Pitt
  • Treasurer – Alisdair Jones
  • Scotland & Northern Ireland Region Representative – Gordon Finlayson
  • North Region Representative – Jayesh Ladva
  • Wales & West England Region Representative – Anne Davies
  • South East Region Representative – Abimbola Musa
  • Student & Trainee Pharmacist representative – Scott Rutherford
  • Assistant General Secretary (Strategic) – Mark Koziol
  • Assistant General Secretary (Tactical) – Balraj Rai
  • Assistant General Secretary (Administration & Membership) – Tasnim Khan

Now that the election to the Wales and West England seat is confirmed, this concludes the overall election process and the independent scrutineer’s report is available here:
