  Pharmacists at Lloyds have moved another step closer to securing an independent voice at work through their trade union, the PDAU. The Central Arbitration Committee (CAC) have decided which pharmacists will be in scope of union recognition; accepting in full the PDA proposal and rejecting entirely the company’s alternative.

  A group of optometrists have been inspired to create a trade union for their profession after learning about the work PDA do for pharmacists. The Prospect - Optometrist and Dispensing Optician Trade Union branch (POTU) is now founded and PDA wish them well as a colleague trade union.

• PDA attends the 9th annual congress of EPhEU

  PDA provided the UK delegation to the annual congress of EPhEU – the Association of Employed Community Pharmacists in Europe in October 2020. Due to the pandemic the congress was held virtually for the first time.  

• Confusing message on union recognition issued by Lloyds does not address data breaches

  PDA members working at LloydsPharmacy have been in contact to report a confusing message they recently received from a senior company representative about recognition of the PDA.  The management message fails to address the issue of data breaches involving pharmacists' personal data 

• Boots pay claim update

  The PDA has sent union members at Boots an update on the pharmacists' annual pay negotiations. As also detailed in a joint statement published with the company, the 2020 talks are being referred to ACAS in the hope they can help the employer and employee representatives reach an agreement.

• Lloyds pharmacists pass first test on road to union recognition

  Pharmacists at LloydsPharmacy (Lloyds) have made significant progress towards trade union recognition as the government body that oversees the process has formally accepted their application. The process now moves forward to decide which pharmacists will be included in the bargaining unit.
